Since 2007 the Bob Kermavner Foundation has awarded over $20,000 to local high school students.  The scholarship foundation will include three recipients for 2014.  Three $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students this year.  The scholarship is primarily based on students’ who have exemplified a commitment in community service and plan on continuing their education after high school.

Bob was born February 3, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Euclid before moving to Willowick, where he made residence from 1967 until his untimely death in 2007. His contributions to the community were countless as he volunteered on the Willowick Police Auxiliary, Willowick Jaycees (in which he served as president of the city chapter and regional director for the Ohio Jaycees) and Willowick Football Association including position of president.  In addition, he was a member of the Willowick Exhausted Roosters, the Willowick Invitational, YASCO, Indian Guides and North High School Boosters & Band Boosters.  He was a 1964 graduate of Euclid High School and a member of the reunion committee.

He was instrumental in the fundraising and purchase of the first Willowick Fire Department Ambulance and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). Bob was also known to be one of Santa’s helpers - each year visiting area residences, retirement and nursing homes.  He was employed in electrical construction and maintenance with the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company for 27 years, retiring in 1993. Following his retirement from CEI, he worked in the testing and research labs at BP Oil Company and at Breckenridge Village in Willoughby. Sadly his life ended too short as he passed away on March 16, 2007 ending his courageous fight against cancer.

Three $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors from Wickliffe and Willoughby-Eastlake School Districts.

The 7th Annual Bob Kermavner Scholarship Raffle
